Hi everyone,

Great site. I got my first PSG last week. It is 70s model MSA D10 classic.

It needed some TLC when I got it esp in the electronics dept. There were some wires that were disconnected from one of the DPDTs that appeared to have fallen off (poor solder job?) or were bumped off. Some wires were literally stripped, twisted together and poorly taped with electrical tape. Anyway the mechanical parts were sound so I got it knowing that I would have to figure this out and fix it.

I have gone through the forum and found some really good info like the following pics:





But I am just not able to connect the dots to know how to connect the Fuzzboard and the pickups up to the DPDT correctly and the rest of the connections.

Mine has the fuzz board as you probably gathered and the control from the outside would look like this originally:



Does anyone have this setup that would mind taking some pics from underneath that shows how the wires layout?

Or if there exists a doc already that I just did not find in my research, can someone please provide that link?

I have removed the electronics and have the E9 pickup wired directly so that I can practice in the meantime.

Don't have a picture for you, but I can tell you...

In the top pic, disconnect the blue wire from the output jack and connect it to the wire marked "Input from bank sw or pickup" in the lower pic.

Connect the wire marked "Output to guitar controls or jack" to the output jack in the top pic (where the blue wire originally was).

As far as wiring layout goes, for short distances you can use unshielded, twisted pair, hookup wire (one hot and one ground -for hum cancellation). For runs more than a few inches, I'd use shielded wire.

I'd install all the components into the guitar and plan the layout of the wiring runs so that they don't interfere with any of the mechanics, and can be affixed to the underside in a way that keeps them in position so they can't move.

Thanks for the help.

I will try it out this weekend.

For some reason I kept thinking I had to hook it up to the DPPT along with the PUPs.

It looks like switch on the Fuzz side loops the singal back in one position or adds the Fuzz in the other position.

The drawing can be a bit confusing until you notice the arrow next to the switch in the bottom pic. It indicates the switching action is connecting the upper, or lower terminals, with the center terminals. With that perspective, the signal path makes sense....inserting, or removing, the fuzz unit.

There are two separate switches...the top pic shows the one for the pickup selector. The bottom pic shows the one for the fuzz on/off switch. The only common component to both pics is the output jack.
