Ben Watt is one half of a group called Everything But The Girl, from the UK. I do not know how well known they are in the US, but Ben has a new solo album called Hendra.

David Gilmour adds some subtle Stringmaster D6 Lap on one track called the levels. The album version is here.

a movie of the track stripped down is here.

Every small contribution of lapsteel or pedal steel in contemporary music needs exposure.

Interesting.... 65 views not a single comment, so I presume everybody is underwhelmed, or does not rate Mr Gilmour or the song, or is disinterested in David Gilmours' home studio, or all of the above, folks in the Pink Floyd/David Gilmour fandom are really excited about this, as we are all desperate to hear new things from the man. The lap part veres towards tradtional slide accompaniment, although I'd be surprised if the tuning is anything other than open Em.

Thanks John. I always loved EBTG. I was often checking if they put any new material out, it's been a long time, even though the girl singer is missing. Great song!
And the radio station is great also. Jesse Winchester died they wrote, I hope it's not true.

I guess one gets to a point in life where poetry needs to be pretty special if it is going to hold our attention. I found both songs dull. I like the bass on Hendra though, but there is not enough of it.
