Topic: Which Mod for Nashville 400, Peavey or Ken Fox is best |

| Just looking for opinions on which Mod to have installed in my Nasville 400, gonna send in to peavey to be checked out for other reasons and thinking about going ahead with Mod kit. Thanks |

Since Ken no longer works on amp, and therefore no mods, your best (and only?) option is to send it to Peavey. Although, if you are handy, or have a competent amp tech, Ken does still sell the mod kits, although don't quote me on that.

Ken still sells chip kits for amps ! I don't believe Peavey still sells the "mod" kits....

Thus the reason to send it to Peavey. They MAY still do the mods in house. He would have to call Peavey and find out. He should talk to Mike Brown.

If you have a chrome corner 1502-4 Nashville 400 made in the mid 80's your better off leaving it stock. The only thing I would do is install the 2134 chips. My opinion anything else hurts . I have tried 2 Nashville mods and 1 Vegas. The stock amp is better. 
If you have a black corner 1501-4 amp it already has the Peavey mod from the factory.

I disagree. I sent my chassis to Ken for the upgrade, and it warmed up the tone of my 1984 NV400 quite a bit. Mine is a chrome corner, 1502-4 model. I guess it depends on each individual person's hearing as well as other factors.

| Thanks guys for info, I talked with Mike Brown this morning and I am sending in to get checked out and to have the Mod kit installed, they still do this, thanks to Mike Brown for his help and courtesy. |

| The LeMay mod was the first, and IMHO, it gave the closest to a "full range" sound out of the Peavey amps. But John doesn't make them any more, so you'll have to use whatever is available. |

I'm not really a Peavey fan. The best way to get good tone from a Peavey would be to replace it with a Evans, Music Man or Fender. Or if you can afford a Milkman or Webb.
The best sound I ever got from a Peavey was the sound it makes when hitting the bottom of the green box !
