Lloyd's Guitar
The LDG guitars don't have bushings in the undercarriage. Did Lloyd guiet the mechanics of his guitar by installing nylon bushings? Or maybe tucking foam rubber between the cross shafts and body of the guitar? Anyone have any methods of silencing?
Thanks
Dennis

Slipping small rubber/plastic tubing/shrink wrap over the pull rods will many times help with undercarriage noise. Most of the builders like to set up the cross shafts fairly loosely for free movement and to avoid environmentally induced binding. Therefore some of the noise that comes from the "slop" in the crossshafts is unavoidable although nylon washers and bushings will help.

How big an issue is undercarriage noise? I can't recall ever hearing anything on the bandstand. When I record I'm usually on a direct box, so there's no mic close by to pick anything up from my guitar.
Has anyone ever heard noise on a recording? Listen to The Best of Conway Twitty on LaserLight Digital (12 438), cut #3. Listen real close to the kick-off!

The undercarriage noises will transfer through the guitar via the pickup and into your amp. Try leaning into your volume pedal without picking a string while you push pedals and knees. It comes through your speaker. Some guitars more than others.
I also realize the way the pickup is mounted will effect it.
Try ripping off a big one during an intro and see if you hear it on the playback
