Help me to find the year of mfg. of my steel. I bought it in 1972 used. 3 pedals only on te bottom key end are the numbers 1950 stamped in the wood and on the end cap. it is blond birds eye maple.appreciate any help you can give me. or advise.

I thought all mavericks were made out of vinyl.

mike, yes this maverick is blond birds eye maple with a clear laquer finish , just like the pic. i saw on another page . It has Sho-Bud nashville tennesse on the leftfront apron and on the right maverick in script ..bob

The first Mavericks werelike a Pro 1 without the "Step" Also the first ones didn't have slotted rollers on the nut.I have reconditioned and upgraded tons of them to 3/3 and 3/4 and they work out great.The biggest problem was the "Coat Hanger" pulls. It isn't really that hard to convert one of these guitars.Ed Naylor Steel Guitar Works
