Carter Steel Guitars. . . .Pretty Impressive!

In the past I've had some pretty negative things to say about the Carter Guitars. But this past weekend in St. Louis changed my mind. My friend David Spires had me to sit down to one and play it at the Carter booth. I must say, I was very impressed. It plays wonderful, great action & sounds great. It's no wonder why many of the pro players are using them like Tommy White, Al Brisco, Junior Knight, and David himself. The weight of the guitar alone is a real plus, and they seem to be designed so they can be maintained easily. Another thing is the price. The Carter prices are much more reasonable than some of the others. Okay, so I'm sold! You never know. . . .you
might see me playing one someday. NR

Yea Nick ! Great post..It was great to meet you at the show. David , Al , Billy Phelps and TW were beyond awesome. Let us not forget that Bud Carter opened the show playing his 12 string, lets see...uhhmm..was that a Carter ? I sat and played between Billy and David sat AM in the Carter booth for a few minutes and pretty much confirmed what a hack I really am !( I already knew that though) Anyone who spends a minute or more talking with John Fabian or Bud Carter about Steel guitars will increase their knowledge ten fold ! These guys just dropped in for the weekend from the Steel Guitar planet ! By the way, I am on my second Carter now, last week I aquired another guitar from my friend here in Charlotte, Joe Smith, it's a black double ten ,9 and 8...Like they say in Texas.." I'll tell you what " !!!

Hey Nick,
I'm glad that you sat down and took one for a "spin". There are several great guitars out there, but each one does offer something different. I know that when I narrowed it down to a list of four guitars, I tried them all a bunch before making my decision. For me, the Carter has been a fantastic fit. For the next guy, it could be something else. I do agree with you on the price point though. They do give a lot of bang for their buck.
Thanks for coming by the booth and having some fun with us. I promise I'll see you soon at the NTSGA meetings.
Catch you later,
David Spires

Hey "Groucy Vet", we'll have no Emmons bashing here.
I just got Jay Dee Maness's video.
He plays a Black Emmons Push-Pull throughout.
Awesome sound!!! It's worth the price just to hear that guitar.
I guess back guitars do sound best.

Sorry Joey, This is sort of an "inside joke" between Nick and me...I think the Emmons IS a fine guitar..After all ;;It carries the name of one of the masters..and a developer in the eveloution of the instument..The Carter IS a relativley "light" instument though!!..But there are fine instruments out the for everybody;s needs and pocketbook. So no "bashing" indended..Are you ready for winter up there in Ice land?

The sled dogs are looking forward to it.
Let's not hi-jack Nick's post. The Carters are impressive. There were lots of impressive guitars at the ISGC.
I hope you noticed the smilies in my above post. It's nice we're all getting along.
