I would like to really understand my Legrandes better with regard to the mechanics. Is this video focused on the Legrande? Is there any type of "shop manual" for the Legrande II? I already work on my own guitars changing levers and such, but I realize that there is much I don't know. Short of doing an apprenticeship, what material is out there? There is some good generic info on the Carter site, but it is nowhere near the depth I would like to explore.

Sounds good, Steve! But how much would you be willing to pay for such a "shop manual". I buy a shop manual for every vehicle that I buy, and they're up to almost $100 now. If you're changing levers and such, and having good results, you're halfway there. At any rate, you have a great source here on the FORUM. All you have to do is use it.
Except for the little bit of electronics there is in a steel, it's all just simple, basic mechanics (levers, fulcrums, bearings, springs, and friction). Want to learn fast? Buy a "junker", and fix it up. There is nothing like "learning by doing".

Donny,
I agree that the forum is a good source. I own four steels. All of them are slightly different. The Legrande undercarriage has many more parts than does my other steels.
Besides the cross rod which has compensators attached, there are multiple pull rods running to the bellcrank hole closest to the body. These actually don't appear to move. There are some other pull rods which simply don't seem to have any function. I've worked quite a bit on this D10 8x10 guitar and it plays really nice and sounds great. I guess my point is that I want to understand every tiny little part and it's relationship to the other parts. I would be willing to pay a reasonable fee for a "shop manual". Is $100 reasonable? Maybe.... It would depend on the quality of the manual.

I have the push/pull video. It's a great Party tape or halftime filler for Monday Night Football. It shows how to tune the guitar that has been around the world 486 times and has played on 16,001 #1 hit singles and it troubleshoots some problem areas between tunes and tours. Word has it that Bobbe submitted it to America's Funniest Home Video's and it is awaiting it's turn on the tube. It's worth having just to watch when nothing else is on TV.

No one has seen the "All Pull Maintenance Video"? Please email me directly if you don't want to post. I just want to know if it is directed at the Legrande.

A '86 LeGrande was used for the model guitar in the video, everything else Mike Weirach says is correct.
