My 70's Sho-Bud Pro-III

I just got through refinishing my 70's Sho-Bud Pro-III. It was red but after I got it all stripped down, I could see how beautiful the bird's eye maple was. So I made the decision to go with a natural finish. I'm more than satisfied with the results. This has been and will continue to be my primary guitar. I also have a LDG model. I thought I would share some pictures with you folks and let you see my version of what a Sho-Bud should be. I have made some upgrades during the years to make it a better guitar.
I hand filed the slots and added gauged rollers a few years ago.
These are my guides for the triple raise/double lower changers.(SuperPro type) ShoBud put these on their earlier triple raise/double lower guitars, but discontinued the idea. They should have continued it IMHO.
Here we modified for tunable splits and adjustable return springs.
Here are the old and new type changers. You will notice that the zinc upper have been replaced with aluminum one.
Here is the old and new bell cranks. They were machined from 6061 aluminum. 14 holes to get the pulls matched up.
Last but not least, this is my very good friend, Albert Johnson. He made the top part of my changers for me and sprayed the lacquer for my cabinet during the refinish process. . Albert makes steel guitars and has designed a changer that operates as smooth as any out there. He allows me to use his shop when I work on my guitars. I'm something of a loose cannon on the gun deck of steel guitar and Albert keeps me on the straight and narrow. He lives in Tallahassee Florida and I will highly recommend him for any type steel guitar work. In my 67 years on this earth, I have not met a better man than Albert.
