Mavericks for $750-decent deal?

I'm looking for a simpler lighter E9 pedal steel. Is this a decent choice. FWIW I'm in Vancouver BC. Anything to watch out for? Other options?

Thanks

Brian

For that price I think you'd be better off with a carter starter. It's simple and lightweight.

Bearing in mind that you want 4 knee levers and the Maverick has only one, I suggest a Stage one, or a Legend (formerly called a Carpsteel.)

Dustin, I think it's a tradeoff. The Starter does have lighter weight and an all-pull changer with 4 knees, but it feels flimsy and insubstantial.
The Maverick has better construction and better tone, which kinda makes up for the single lever.
Neither are great guitars, but if *I* had to choose between the two (but knowing what I know how), I'd rather have the functionally limited tone beast.
But the ideal answer is, IMO, bank the $750, make deposits every paycheck to a savings account and buy a pro guitar when you have another 250-350 bucks.

I agree with Lane. Wait, spring for a few more bucks and buy something that won't make you regret buying it. In the interim, buy some cheap, nasty lap steel and play around with a bar and picks for a while! Rufus might have one of those.
