A friend of mine gave me her late husbands dbl neck MSA, it needs some tender love and care. The first thing I wanted to know is how to tell how old it is and then I can start to work on her. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Arrow Thanks, Gary

If you will flip it over and look on the underside, there is a serial#. Post that number here and I am sure someone can help you determine the age.

Mine is 2C2324 and was made in April of 74 according to Reece Anderson.

Serial # is 2C1789,Black Mica Classic, Assembly by Bud Carter.
It's an 8x3, Emmons setup but the E's are on the right knee and 2,9 & 7 on the left knee. Can you find used parts for these PSG's ? Looks like I will need at least one knee lever. What pickup sounds best on these PSG's E9th neck? Thanks, Gary

I think James Palenscar of Steel Guitars of North County can help you out.

I have an original chrome banded 705 on my E9th neck. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Sounds great

I'd guess 2C1789 to be very early in '74...probably January. As to a pickup, the stock single-coils are pretty decent, but they can be noisy in some areas. A BL-710 would sound good, too, but most any pickup will require routing to fit in there, as the stock cavity is very small.

Parts availability seems pretty good, both on used and repro parts. Just post exactly what you need, and you'll get some responses. Smile

Thanks Donny! The E's raise and lower are on the changer end and one knee on the key head end and it lowers 2&9 and raises 7. I want to change it to my set up which is just the reverse so I will need another knee lever set up for a RKR lever. I've never worked on a MSA so this is new ground for me. Any info will be put to good use. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Arrow Gary

The LTD400 is one of the best steel amps ever built. It was basically a narrower Session 400. I've had a couple of them, one, I bought new in 1980, and kept it until a couple of years ago.

Sorry but the LTD 400 is a TERRIBLE steel amp. The absolute worst. And just having it around the house It will make you fat and bald.

Since I'm already fat and bald, it can't hurt me, so I volunteer to take it off your hands. Laughing

Hay Darvin long time no talk. If you saw my post you know I got the amp with a dbl-10 MSA Classic from a lady at Church(it's a black one). Just checking on the amp, I never played or even saw one, sounds like I got a good one. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Arrow Thanks, Gary

Hi Gary, I loved my LTD's. I needed lighter, smaller stuff, and I am downsizing, so I'm using a couple of Cube 80's and I still have a POD HD and Stewart amp setup too. I'm not playing out at all anymore so these fit my needs well.
