Just purchased Buddy Charleton's last Emmons from his widow Kay Lee Charleton, it is a bolt on and does not have a serial number, Buddy always said it was a 66 but I really don't know, anyway happy to now own it. Now to see if Buddy left any licks in it.

WOW! How fortunate you are to get that piece of history and who better to get it than you, Billy! I can only imagine the tone of that Emmons...

Yeah, David is right, the guitar goes from one good guy to another.
I never acquired one of Buddy's guitars but I was fortunate to have had lessons from him over a five day period. Really nice person and a great teacher. Obviously he was no slouch at playing either. stevet |

Billy I am wondering if you would be so kind as to post a few more pictures of the underside and changer end?
That Emmons guitar would be very desirable to a lot of people on here IMO. Thanks. |

Unfortunately Billy they take all those impressive licks with them. I can speak with experience on that. I’ve look long and hard for some on mine and concluded, they left nothing. Buddy tried a lot of guitars but he always came back to that one. To honor Buddy, make it look real pretty now. |

Totally agree! There are very few instruments in existence that are finer than that one.

It must of been hard for Kaylee to let go of it. I wouldn't change a thing to it, such a original piece of history belongs in Country Music Hall of Fame! I got to see him play it from taking lessons. That the real deal! I know its temping for Billy with all his talents but like any original piece of history it should remain unchanged for future appreciation of generations to come. There's only one like it. |

I have to agree with you all. I am going to clean it but make no changes and not restoring it, leave as is all but cleaning. I too think it should stay as is. _________________ Billy Knowles

Clean it, but don't clean Buddy's DNA off it! I admire you for your choice. If it every becomes a financial burden contact me. |

I have two (well known) all pulls and an Emmons fatback. My Bolton is black and approximate year as yours. IMHO the old Emmons Bolton's still have the best sound. Every time I play the others I always go back to it. Wish I could find another one, but couldn't afford it.
I'm glad to see you got it!! |

I agree......... but if you do clean it up, please send me the rag you used. Maybe just little bit of Buddy rubbed off on it, and I could sure use any any great steel playing help I can get. |

Nice score Billy! Just curious but given the history and significance of this Emmons, are you a little concerned about gigging with it?
Best wishes and I am happy for you. Walter _________________ Emmons S10, p/p, Nashville 112, Zion 50 tele style guitar, Gibson LP Classic w/Vox AC30, Fender Deluxe De Ville and a Rawdon-Hall classical |
