Lap and Console players. What overdrives are you using. If no pedal, what overdriven amp do you like?

I'm a big fan of the Boss pedals, either the Blues Driver or the OD series.

The classic tone to me, though, is the Ibanez Tube Screamer.

I play through a 58 champ with a pair of jensen alnico 10" speakers. With volume set at about 7, it's very pick-attack sensitive, from sorta clean to nicely crunchy. If that's not enough, there's a boss overdrive and a ross distortion available on the floor.

I'm partial to David Lindley's lapsteel sound so I've got a Ceriatone OTS Dumble clone that does that... otherwise a Zendrive will produce a reasonable facsimile.

My favorite is the Little Walter 22. Here's a clip with a pedal steel, but it sounds quite similar with a lap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97P9sKUE7Uk

For a pedal, if you like the sound of your amp and guitar, but want it 'drivier' there's nothing better than the Earth Drive.

I'm using a very soft overdrive made by a friend, based on an MXR distortion + with a different tone stack. But I used a Wampler Euphoria a couple of days ago, very impressed and very Dumble-ish. I just look for a bit of hair on the tone.

An old Rat. Back off on the Tone control.

I really like my Keeley Fuzzhead. I've also used an MJM britbender. There are literally hundreds of options these days.

Brad,

I have a Blues Driver BD-2 and a Bass Overdrive ODB-3, among others, and I've never been able to find the sweet spot on any of them. Can you share your settings, and the instruments and amps you are using?

I seem to get the best results just by cranking a Pro Junior, but sometimes that's just too loud.

Any insight on your preferred Boss pedal settings would be appreciated.

I'm using a Fulldrive 2 into a Fender Blues Junior, but also started using my new Fender Super Sonic Twin (burn channel, no overdrive pedal needed) for in-town stuff.

Also, I'm LOVING the Duncan Antiquity pickups I just had put in my Asher Hawaiian Junior too. When am I gonna learn how BIG a difference that pickups make?

:-)
