Wanted to play since I was 20 when I heard Buddy Emmons on the the Who Knows Where The Time Goes album by Judy Collins, and Al Perkins with Manassas. Trying to play since 40 but no time or a properly working instrument. Now at 62 I have both and I've got further in the last six months than in the last twenty years, entirely thanks to this forum.

Yes, the counting is easy in my case since we're the same age! Unfortunately for me I started just 3 years ago....but making decent progress and loving it!

I turned 60 and started playing pedal steel about 6 weeks ago. I started lap steel 4 years ago, Mandolin 12 years ago, guitar 48 years ago, and have wanted to play pedal for about 55 years.

I agree with Papa Joe and Alan.
You stopped the age classifications too short.
I am 75 years young and started on steel guitar 60+ years ago.

I'll be seventy-one in a couple of weeks (so I guess I could've voted!)
Started studying guitar in 1957 and steel maybe fifteen years after that. Still earning my living at it and (mostly) having fun.
