Jerry Wallace Pickup Evaluation

Post by Michael Johnstone »

I had Jerry put one of his single coil TrueTone pickups in a Sierra slide-in module for my 12 string and I couldn't be more pleased.I recieved it yesterday, slapped it in and used it last night on stage at an outdoor gig - WOW! Since day one,I've used a Dan Shields CT-1 humbucker on my Sierra and you couldn't ask for a better sound. But I wanted a single coil as an alternative voice - especially for the West Coast Mooney/Brumley stuff I like to play so I called Jerry. His pickup is at least as hi-fi as the CT-1 but w/a voice all it's own - more balance, string seperation and is crisper on the low strings w/out the high strings sounding shrill - just sweet and fat w/zero percievable single coil hum.I haven't had this much zing and punch sinch I sold my ZB. I like it! BTW,I'm told there will be a couple of these pickups(10&12 string)in Sierra modules in the Sierra room at the convention for perusal and scrutiny. -MJ-

Pretty tough p/ups,
i just put one on Skip Coles Le Grande ll,
he cut about two acres of johnson grass out in my pasture, bout 2' tall with it and his NV/1000. Image
Faster than my john Deere too. Image

All kidding aside, it is a clean p/up with really good seperation.
