steel processing/studio advice/Dugmore's "smokerings"sound

Ive been doing some local recording for a friend on his personal CD project. Mostly pretty rough and amaturish(us...not the studio), nevertheless its been a valueable experience. Any case, some tunes seemed to ask for a steel sound similar to Dan Dugmore's on "Smokerings in the dark". Any of you guys have some suggestions on what kind of processing and settings would get you close? Granted this is a humble studio and the engineer doesnt have any experience recording steels. Im getting a great basic sound though micing the p/p through a classic 50/212 with a AT4033 which was a noticeable improvement over going direct. Anyway, I attempted to assimilate the sound with the amp reverb and DD5 delay (no doubt something much higher end wouldnt hurt). Maybe add more verb in the mix. So far I feel like Im trying to compete in the Indy with a scooter. But you never know, I always learn something here.
