Why does most tab for PSG not include standard notation? It sure helps with timing. _________________ GFI Ultra SD-10; Nashville 112; Hilton pedal, George L Cables; Pearse bar; Live Stings;Walker seat by Billy Knowles. |

Strictly a guess on my part, but unlike guitar and bass where there is a plethora of software programs available where as one is creating TAB the notes will fill in on the staff, there aren't many choices of like software for pedal steel.
It does exist, for example Tabledit has a pedal steel program, perhaps others can fill us in on the learning curve - I've seen it utilized in the past on the SGF by Doug Beaumier. _________________ Mark |

Mark, you are correct re: Doug. I have some tabs he did and the standard notation was done with Tabledit. Hovwever, Erv Niehause tabs ave standard notation done 'freehand.' A lot of John Hughey's books at St. Louis were tabbed by Doug Jernigan, but did not have standard notation. However, one of his books did have standard notation. That book was not tabbed by Doug but another musician. Mrs. Hughey told me that theartist who did the tab with standard notation was too expensive. _________________ GFI Ultra SD-10; Nashville 112; Hilton pedal, George L Cables; Pearse bar; Live Stings;Walker seat by Billy Knowles. |

Gary is correct, I include the musical notation on all my tabs, along with the guitar chords and lyrics. It really aids in getting the correct timing. |

Wasn't there an Excel program that more or less automatically took Tablature format and turned it into standard notation? Or at least the Excel program provided which note on the scale was being played? I have searched and I am not able to locate the correct thread, does anybody remember where this came up?
