Many years ago, there was a company and/or process called Velva-Glow where you could take virtually anything to them and they would flock it with a beautiful nylon flocking that was electro-statically charged to make it stand up properly. There was some sort of epoxy colored glue that was sprayed on first, then the fibers. It was a wonderful process. You might do a search on the web or ask around if you are interested in having somebody else do it. I have personally done flocking with the bags of flock and the spray gun that looks like an old fashioned fly sprayer. I later got a special gun that runs off an air compressor, which was much better. Results were not up to my standards. It looked OK, but that was it, just OK. Plus, it was a mess to clean up all the loose fibers. We had a large cardboard box that we sprayed into to keep the fibers in one place and to be able to collect the oversprayed ones and reuse them. We were spraying black, so we just coated the plywood with flat black enamel and sprayed the flocking on while the paint was wet. I have a number of woodworking catalogs that still have the equipment in it if you don't find it elsewhere, let me know and I will dig up the info. for you.
