Wow...this is possibly one of them most beautiful tone to the bone steel instrumentals I have ever heard! The whole album is great....but man this track really stands out!

Dare I say it? It rivals the version by Buddy himself that was on the 'net a little while back.

Where is this instrumental that you are talking about? Where do I buy it or hear it? I like the heck out of Gary Carter's playing.

It's Gary's new CD (released last Summer, I believe). Find his web-site and order it from there.

Gary's 'Shenandoah' is on the 'Big E Tribute' album - I suspect because Buddy often cited the tune as one of his favourites of all time - and it's also on Gary's own CD.

BOTH CDs are well-worth having for many reasons but, if you're a fan of Mr Carter's work (and who isn't???), then his ten-track album is a tour-de-force of sheer musicality and a 'must-have' recording. I've found it inspirational.

Agreed Brandon . . . I always find myself going back to that song on that CD.

I have the fortunate opportunity to hear Gary play with Connie Smith nearly every weekend at the Grand Ole Opry. Gary always brings it and I never miss his segment. He plays with utmost taste, touch, tone and is one of the most sincerely nice gentlemen you'll meet. Of course, most of you already knew that!

Yes agree with all above!!! A stand out track on what is a stand out CD from a stand out musician. What a master steel player!!

....and now I'm not sure that don't think that track 4 on Gary's CD - 'And So It Goes' - is even better!

All this acclaim, yet it seems like he never, ever just "shreds to impress"... is "good taste" making an secretive, unannounced comeback?

I've had the good fortune to work in a band or two with Gary,and I can tell you...he always plays just the right thing.

And, the same can and should be said about you Steve Hinson! I' m so fortunate to get to hear some of the best steel players ever, every weekend!

For a nobody like me to sit side stage and watch Gary Carter, Tommy White and Pat Severs was a chance of a life time.

Gary treated me as a brother and I have been lucky that he allows me to be a friend.
Also got to hear a secret rough cut of the CD he recently did before he finished it. "Any Old Road" that I sent him I wanted to cut. What a gift to hear what he did with it and the pure breath of his notes on that song was off the chain.

Roger, I agree with you about "And So It Goes" - a superb rendition of a beautiful melody. Gary plays with finesse & that's the mark of a great musician.
The only thing I would have liked to have seen would be composers details.I definitely will be looking for his next offering.

I agree - I hate to lend a critical note to the proceedings but I wish there had been some information on Gary's CD sleeve. I believe Marty is credited as having played on it but that's about it.

I have to agree Gary Carter is a great player,incredible tone and beautiful phrasing. I tracked down all the songs on his CD, "And so it goes" a Billy Joel song! The rest are Nickel Creek, Allison Krause,and Balsam Range.
