12 String Tuning.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Following is the tuning I have used on S12 for many years. It lends it'self not only to commercial pedal work but also to western swing, jazz, ect. I would like some comments though that if you were to start from scratch with this tuning, how would you hook up 5 floor and 3 knee levers.

F#-Ed-G#-E-C#-B-G#-E-C#-A-B-E

No telling what you guys might come up with.

Thanks,

Jerry

Is your 11th string (B) a step higher than your 10th (A)?

Hi Jerry- Nice tuning! I am glad to see players trying something other than standard tunings..I know why you put the A on 10 string instead of the 11th. So you can get straight Amajor7th and a root for your A tuning.

But I have found with the tuning I use which is "almost "exactly like yours, that the B will usually work better on the 10th string and the A on the 11th. I know you have to reach with your thumb for it that way but it is easy to do.

I Find another nice way to do that bottom , is to put a B on the 10th and G# on the 11th. can bevery versatile,( practically like an Ext.E9.) then pull the 11th up to A on a Pedal or Knee lever....al Image

As for 5 pedals an 3 knee levers. I will say, P1 raise B's to C#, P2 raise G#'s to A.
P3-4-5 same as P5-6-7 on C6th.

P3 flat the B's and raise the E12th to F#.

P4 flat the G# and raise the 3rd to A and the 11th to A.

P5 raise the 4th string E to F# and the 5th string C# do D# .

That would get your main E9 pedals and your Main 3, C6 type pedals, only in E6...al Image

Thanks Al,
You have got me to thinking. I have had it one way for so long but have always though there were a few better ways to set it up. I guess we are all creatures of habit to some extent. You know, What was good enough for grampa should be good enough for me.

Thanks again,

Jerry
