Does anyone know how Sho-Bud serial numbered their guitars? Did each model have it's own numbering scheme or was one numbering series used for all Sho-Bud Steels? Does anyone have any idea about what serial number coincided with each of the three variations of undercarriage parts seen on Sho-Buds?

That is a very good question Bob..I have wondered the same thing myself..Come on some of you Sho-Bud fans-pass some of that knowledge along to some others who don't know yet?? Thanks for any/all answers..Ron

I too have had this question. I have a Pro I that I would love to find out what year it was made. I made the suggestion about a year ago to have all sho~bud owners post their serial numbers with their model type and year they bought them (if they are the original owners). This way we could maybe figure out some kind of numbering scheme.

Sorry guys, but there is no standard way that Sho-Bud dealt with their serial numbers. You can however come to a general era and get close to the year of the birth of the pedal steels by the style and type of changer, foot pedals, and so on. Duane Becker

I'm kinda trying to do the opposite. By knowing the serial number (at least, first 2 or 3 digits), I want to be able to figure out what sort of style of Sho-Bud parts a guitar might be built with. So few people (sellers) have any clue as to what style of parts their guitar is built with and when they send a photo, many times they don't flip the steel over so one can see the undercarriage. It makes it tough to buy any Sho-Bud sight unseen.

Did Sho-Bud use one continuous series of number for all of their steels?

Ask Jerry Fessenden or Duane Marrs. Perhaps even Paul Franklin or even BobBE Seenmore might know.
