Last week completed (except for installing sound screens)my 8 String reso "kit" that I got from Gregg McKenna. It has a VERY deep rich tone,,,a very heavy guitar.

Also just completed a 6 to 8 string conversion. This was an old 6 string "Rogue" guitar. I widened the neck, made and installed a new fret board, modified the head stock and installed new grover machine heads. This guitar does not have near the wood in it that the McKenna does,,,has a "thinner" tone,,,but I'm very pleased with the conversion. I think it is a nice looking guitar.

My dream is a kit like McKenna's, plywood tricone like Xavier Baron's but with 8 strings, hollow neck for parallel strings with at least 8 mm [0.314961"] string spacing.

Jouni,

Thinking about the next one, with a spider single cone. Maybe a 8 strings one...
Sides are already bent.
It might be easy to enlarge the mold near the head to fit a larger neck, but… How to deal with the tailpiece? Sad Not easy to find 8 strings ones….)
… and the Fishman Aura Nashville series PU !

Xavier,

Elderly Instruments sells 8 string tailpieces identical to the ones on the Beard-Gold Tone 8 string reso guitars. Chrome plated steel, priced at $21. I have one on my McKenna 8 string.

Wow, thank you for your help guys. Couldn't find it before you showet it to me.
Anyway I still didnt choose between 6 or 8 strings.
I like the classical look of the 6 strings, and reviews of the Fishman Aura PU seems to say that sound is weak with 8 strings...

Sonny, what about the string spacing?
