I believe he used either a Lucky-7 or a GOLO. You never heard him complain about premature .011 breakage did you?

If you can find it, it's now worth mega-bucks on Ebay.

my eyes ain't that good, what kind of steel is that and what is the arrow pointing to?

The guitar would be a ZB and the arrow would be pointing to the fact that Jerry Garcia was the first steel player to not use a third string because of the accident he had years earlier that removed a portion of his third finger.

Aw c'mon, Jon. You've got to be kidding. No third string <font size=1>or did I just take the bait on a big fish story...</font>?

I knew he was missing part of the 3rd finger, but that was on his picking hand. Besides, he HAD to have been playing a G# raise on Teach...No?

Would I lie to you? Image And also, I bet you didn't know that ZB stands for Zebco.

Jon is trying to create an Urban Legend.

Jerry had a third string, and used it a lot.

He often wondered why Red Arrows hovered above his Steel.

I still don't know what this thread is about.

Chuck, it's been over ten years, but I still can't figure out what's going on. Maybe my brain is still trying to catch up, it's probably still confused by reality.

The red arrow indicates the 3rd fret, when he moves to the 15th fret that section of the fret board is blocked from his view because his hair is in his left eye.The arrow prevents him from overshooting the 3rd fret.
I got this information from a friend of mine who is a second cousin to the nephew of a swinette player who worked for the brother of the b@njo player who is kin to the guy that put the arrow there. You can take this to the bank.
What was this thread about?
Ray
