Hey everybody! After quite a long hiatus and absolutely no practice on my steel I have totally forgotten how to tune my guitar. This particular axe has a pull-release system and uses a little screw next to the knee lever to tune the high open E string. But I can't remember what order to tune it in!

Is it 1) depress C pedal and tune with tuning keys 2) tune open E with knee lever screw and then 3) depress knee lever and tune with hex screws?

Or is it 1) depress C pedal and tune with tuning keys 2) depress knee lever an tune with hex screws and then 3) tune open E with knee lever screw??

Or none of the above? Several errors have caused me to break this particular string as I have been stretching it beyond capacity in my experimentations!! Thanks for your help! Boy I can't wait to get this thing fired up again!!!!

Shame on you Missy;___you never take an hiatus from steel playing. A break from watching the evening news is permitted, but not practicing the steel guitar.

As your punishment, I'm not going to tell you how to tune it.

Seriously:
You still retain the method for tuning it. Keep working with it and it will return; then it will stay with you much longer than someone repeating to you the method.

If this fails tune in later.

Yes, I know. I have been to Steel Guitar Purgatory and now I'm back!!

Actually, I keep breaking the string I'm trying to tune by experimenting with it so I was hoping to cut my losses by finding someone to help me!!!

I wish I could help, but I've never tuned an MSA Sidekick. Reece? Anyone?

You think youve been away for a while.I havent even had a steel guitar for a year.I had to sell mine to pay bills.I hope I can still play.

Hi Richard!

While you were out goofin' around I've been chained to the Fessy you sold me! I've played "Someday Soon" so many time on it that the thing runs and hides when I turn on the lights.
