Has someone converted it to a 15" speaker? I think they were 12" from the factory.

Hmm, they could have. I thought I had seen all of their models, but I've never seen a Studio Pro with a 15". I know their Artist amp was offered in a 12" and 15" configuration. Mike Brown at Peavey would probably know for sure.

I used to own one of these amps, the cabinet is too small for a 15" speaker. It's a little smaller that a Bandit, which would be large enough for a 15. Looking at the one on ebay, that appears to be the original speaker to me. It's a pretty good sounding amp, not super loud, it would be OK for lower volume gigs, I think.

Is this amp related to the Studio Pro 50? My amp is from 1985-87, somewhere about there. I use it for steel (practice) and some electric guitar. Great reverb! It's really versatile, a 15 would be cool in it I think, but it has a scorpion. The cab is too small for a 15, so would a BW-12 be a serious upgrade?

I have gigged with it and it is plenty loud. I played an es-175 through it, had a drummer and bass player in a room the size of a corner pub, and never took it past 2-1/2 on the pre-gain and 4 on the master. It's giggable in my small world.

I emailed the seller of the SP-40 listed on Ebay with a 15" speaker, and he made a mistake, it's actually a 12" as we thought. It's really irrelevant, a 12" probably sounds just as good or better than a 15".

A long dormant thread, but since I was searching info about Studio Pro (need to replace speaker I blew out at high volume/high distortion w/tele) thought I throw in 2 cents in case anyone is looking at one of these. I've had this one since early 80s. Fine practice amp for electric and steel. I used it on gigs w/small trio a lot, but it won't hold up to playing with a real band. I have mine in a second home now and found a nice place to set it on a tilt stand in a loft where it sits in a nook under eves that give it a good bass boost, almost sounds like it had a 15" speaker. Seems these come up for good prices and if your looking for a lite practice amp can't go wrong with this one.
