New! Stage One Volume Pedals $99, pictures added

I'm producing the first batch of Stage One Volume Pedals right now. Designed for pedal steel of course, with the proper geometry to be comfortable for use when seated.

As with my other products, they are made with the needs and budget of the average working musician in mind.

Features are -

A fine brushed finish on the aluminum top piece and a non skid black rubber tread.

Durable black painted steel base part with rubber feet.

Dunlop 470K Hot Pot. These seem to work very well and from all reports are giving several years of service.

Two outputs. Best quality Switchcraft 1/4" metal jacks.

Gear Drive! No string and spring to mess with.

Offered for the very reasonable price of $99 plus shipping. I decided that volume pedals had gotten too expensive so here is a solution.

I only had parts made for 25 on this run just to make sure that all the pieces would fit together as they should, and they do. This is another fine Bruce Zumsteg design. (Well, I did help some...mostly with ideas).

Are are the gears like the rack and pinion ones on the old ZB foot pedal volume controls. I'm talking about late 60's early 70's?

Hi Lyle,

Yes, that is the general arrangement. I have only seen Tom Brumley's ZB pedal. Those were very nice pedals if they were all like his.

The dimensions of the pedal are 9-1/2"L x 3-1/2"W, 2-1/2"H in the full on position.

The top is laser cut aluminum, formed on a brake and then spot welded on the inside front corners. It seems to be very strong but weighs about half as much as a lot of other pedals. I have been using one for a few months here in the shop on a linoleum floor with no problems.

From the looks of things I better order more parts tomorrow. Hurrah!

Thanks Pete! I started to move that wire before I took the picture. Cheri said no one would care. I bet her a dinner at the Tex Mex restaurant that someone would say something about it.

In looking at photos of both of the Hilton brackets, it seems that they would probably work. You might have to re-drill a couple of holes.

I was looking at my Hilton pedal this morning and the bumper feet mounting hole spacing is very close on both pedals as far as width. The Stage One pedal is longer from the front feet bumpers to the front of the pedal than the Hilton. I don't have a bracket to actually test.

I don't know what other brackets are available.

Take a look at the new Mullen bracket. It is slick.

A bracket like that will work fine. Bruce and I made a few along those lines in about 2001. The keyhole design works very well.

Thanks Michael. I agree with the simplicity thing. Everyone doesn't need or want the latest greatest hi tech stuff, and those people have been under served for a while in my opinion.

I don't really have plans to do anything different, but time will tell. This is about as low profile as can be done without having some special gearing parts made. I'm afraid if you gear it down much that the playability may suffer.
