Goodrich pot question, ... I think

Post by Ken Karn »

Hey, all
I know that my pot is starting to get fuzzy, but along the
way can this effect the pot's sound (mid-rangey)?
Thnx for anything!
Ken
Btw, the wife thinks my pot has always been fuzzy...

No the reason the pot is fuzzy is because it is an inferior pot..and that is also why it is mid-rangy.
Put a GOOD pot in there and it will be like taking a blanket off your sound.
If you can find an old Allen Bradley 500K type J. Or the new ones being made today that are OUTSTANDING is the Dunlop that Tom Bradley sells....other than that....yuk..ha.

I have two Goodrich pedals, one has a Dunlop that I bought from Tom and replaced in May of "08" and the other pedal I bought as a backup has a Clarostat. After reading this I had to compare the two because I don't use the second pedal. The Clarostat pedal works fine, seems to be quiet, but isn't in the same ballpark as the Dunlop! I've also tried other brands of pots only to have them lock up or get scratchy after six months. And yes Ricky, I agree with you about the sound!! I'm totally sold on Dunlops, I have had Allen Bradley type J's too and yes they're great but I think this Dunlop right now has gone farther than the "AB" pots I remember. Just my two cents, Loren.
