HI, I know that these were Silverface Twins but what year or serial number or other distinguishing feature would I look for.
Thanks |

It will say 135 watts on the rear panel---I believe at the speaker jacks. |

Some of the later 135watt models were black face. I have one. I believe between about 76' and 80'. The distinguishing feature by appearance would be the master volume on the black faces. _________________ Shobud Pro1,BMI U12, Santa Cruz F, PRS Standard, Fender Twin Reverb, ‘53 000-28 |

Jon, yes, under the speaker jacks. The serial# on my Silverface is: A7687790. My wraparound P/P through this amp is what I think the traditional pedal steel is supposed to sound like.
I also have an older VHT Sig:X that I needed to have sound traditional as well as overdriven and I spent a bit of time with it side by side with the Twin, to dial it in. |

The fender amp field guide site states that the 135 watt models were manufactured between '77-'82, and that they didn't go back to the black face plate til late 1980. It also seems that the master volume knob was added in '72, but the push pull master volume was in '74. The later blackface models seem to be very rare, though not very desirable of course. Production must have dropped off significantly around then.
Chas, is that the combination you used on the Cold Blue EP? Man that sound is epic... |

Here is the Vibrosonic version of the 135 watt twin.
I would be interested in selling this locally. I will not ship it as it looks like the day it was made. Its had the caps replaced and Ken Fox just installed new JJ power tubes in it.
