Big E @ ET's Midnight Jamboree Jan 20th
I noticed on the website for ET's Shops that the "Maestro" is with Johnny Bush on the above date. Buddy has confirmed he will be there...............I can't wait. I did not notice any mention of the gig under this topic or any others on the forum. Could I be like Paul Revere? The Maestro is coming....................

Yes, I’ll be working with one of my favorite saddle pals, Johnny Bush. We’ve known each other for a long time and it’s always great to work with him just to be the subject of his abuse.
In regard to the Nameless Shuffle, Laney and I won’t be doing the song together. I’ve decided to quit playing it on stage as an instrumental or vocal.
I’ll be bringing my Zum all-pull guitar to the date. It will be a fun night; and as for Bruce Heffner coming to the show all the way from Pennsylvania I’m completely blown away. I never realized he was such a Johnny Bush fan. My thanks to Bruce for the post and the support all these years and I’ll see you at the Midnight Jamboree.

Well, I was looking forward to hearing a hybrid... but it probably wouldn't make a bit of difference under your hands, Buddy... will it be ok if I try to take some pictures?
Oh, Bud... I have a pack of pictures that Dad took... they were developed in April, 1960. They were from the DJ Convention prior to that. Opry and Jamboree pics. Can I bring them and have you take a look at them? You might be able to help identify some of the folks in them...

Music hath the charm to soothe a savage beast, but I'd try a 10mm first.

Mike… I’ll be happy to see the pictures and take all the pictures you want. Both the Hybrid and the all-pull sound very similar with the same Lawrence pickups, so having been used to the anti pitch drop mechanism in my previous guitar and being able to tune the raises and lowers the same way made me opt for the all-pull guitar. At my age, the more I don’t have to think about, the better.
Bob… I’ve known you were a Bush fan for a long time. Johnny has told me many times that you liked his singing a lot better than mine.

Last year, when I was "promoting" the vocal rendition of "Nameless Shuffle", my buddy, David McCormack, extended a standing invitation to me to be a guest on the next Midnight Jamboree featuring Johnny Bush and Buddy Emmons. We couldn't do the show as scheduled last year because of an illness in Johnny's family, so the "guest" invitation carried forward to the upcoming show.
It was a clumsy assumption on my part, and I apologize for the confusion and for not clearing this with Buddy.
"Nameless Shuffle" is one of mine, and many others', favorite songs, and I regret that for any reason he has decided to "retire" it. But, I respectfully honor those wishes, and I'll state once more how much I appreciate having had the distinct privilege of recording and performing it with "the Maestro".
Happy New Year Y'all!

Patrick;
The Midnite Jamboree is held at the Texas Troubadour Theatre, hooked onto the Ernest Tubb Record Shop close to where Opryland was in Nashville (in Music Valley Village.) Check ErnestTubb.com for more details.
The show starts as soon as the Saturday night, January 20th Opry is over. You can listen to the show that night on-line via WSM On-line.

Buddy
Buddy I remembered when you did a road show with Ray Price back in the 6O's at the 1440 Club in Santa Clara, California Ray had Dale Mcall with him that's about all I could remember as I had just started playing drums and still playing. I have always liked Buddy's playing I have an album of Ernest Tubb and on the front cover is none other then the King him self, it's called the MId Night Jambree. I wouldn't take anything for it, it's so old. I know I can replace it but the real one is cool. Buddy do you remember that show?
