Kenn Rollans is with the Lord
With a very heavy heart I must tell the steel guitar world that Kenn Rollans passed away at 4:15pm
today Nov. 13,2013. He was 77 years young. He was a wonderful husband to Dorothy, a great father to Kena, Mike and myself(Dan). Also a very loving grandfather and Great-grandfather.He spent his life working hard to raise his family and he taughts us well.
Besides being a great influence on his family, he made his mark on the steel guitar community with his love for the instrument. He was a very accomplished player for many years. I owe my musical abilities to him. He taught me well. In 1978 he started Mark IV Sound International which later became what is known now as Steelers Choice. He designed the Steelers Choice "Easy Rider" Pack Seat that has been used and still used by players all over the world. One of the greatest gifts he held dear to his heart was all the people he had met and called his friend through the steel guitar community. He could call them by name and loved each one.
When Kenn retired from Steelers Choice in 2006, I took over the company with a promise to him that I will carry on as he had taught me.
Mom,Kena,Mike and myself want thank each and everyone of you for your thoughts, prayers and mostly for your love of our dad Kenneth L. Rollans.
Born May 10th 1936 Died Nov. 11th 2013
Thank you, Dan Rollans

the value of friendship. Old friends shine like diamonds, you can always call them and - most important - you can't buy them.

When my wife purchased my seat from Kenn at the Dallas show, she made the check out for too much and she didn't realize it. When Kenn got home and he was going thru the checks, he noticed the over payment. He called her to tell her and he said he was getting a money order for a refund. He offered to send the check back and let her send him another one. That trully impressed us. He immediately recognized every year after that when we saw him at the Texas Steel show. He was a gem of a man. He will be so greatly missed. You and the family are in our prayers Kenn. We were blessed to have known him and done business with him.

So sorry to hear the news about Kenn. I knew him from the steel shows, and enjoyed our visits. I never needed one of his seats, but always thought he had a great product.
When I needed a case for my MSA, Dan built it for me, and it fit perfectly. I can say that Kenn truly did teach his children well.
My best wishes to the family and may God give you all peace and grace at this time.

Condolences
Ken was instrumental in setting me up with his great seats and racks when I started my steel guitar shop back in 1994. He was always a man of his word and I will always treasure his Waffle House jokes.

My condolences to Dan and the entire Rollans family. I'm glad I got to know Ken during my stay in Saline County, Arkansas, in 2007. We jammed a couple of times at Eddie Fay's house, in the summer of 2007. A loss to all steel players.

Ken and Dorothy and the family are special friends to Mitzi and I and Ken will always have a special place in my heart because I looked on him as a brother to me. We pray for Dorothy and the family to be able to get through this trying time and just think of Ken up in heaven, in a much better place and at peace now. Love, Buck and Mitzi.

Sorry for the loss. Ken has helped me several times with my seat and never charged me, even when he sent parts.

dan, my condolences as well to you and the kids and to miss Dorothy. this has been one friendship that I have always treasured and I can't attempt to count the times I have thought of ken's grin and how much it brightened up the dreariest day or the darkest night.
at least now there's a sign just inside the pearly gates that say's, "steeler's choice", and a guy with a distinctive grin snd a handshake to meet you.
