Just received the new dvd/cd from The Wheel.
Wow..........Excellent !! Ray Benson was his usual funny self. DVD also features Elizabeth McQueen and Eddie Rivers.
I didn't get to see the Wheel "live" with this lineup, so this is definitely a treat.
Elizabeth McQueen has such a beautiful voice
and gets to sing some "Wheel" classics like
I Wonder, Old Cowhand and Bump Bounce Boogie. Also got to hear/see Eddie Rivers for the first time. He is a super talented musician. Ray Benson sure knows how to pick them. This was recorded in Pennsylvania so maybe some you folks were there. Great Show from the wizards of western swing !!
Check it out !
Merry Christmas !

Hi Bob. I didn't know anything about Eddie Rivers other than a name I sometimes saw associated with AATW. From a strong recommendation here on the forum I picked up Wayne Hancock's latest cd, Tulsa. Mr. Rivers (as Hancock keeps calling out to him) tears it up. A lot of his playing. First listen, I thought 'hmm, some odd song choices', but from the 2nd time and on, first class playing, first class listening. It is one of my current 'go-to' records for some steel playing lessons/inspiration sources.
Merry Christmas, bro. |

the Wheel just keeps rolling. This group is a national treasure in my opinion. Eddie is a great player and a down-home person to boot. It's a joy to hear them and Eddie's solo on" Cotton Eyed Joe" is a treat for sore steel lovers ears.
