Here's a link to a video I created back in 2009 for the Museum of Making Music's show called "The Magic and Mystery of Slide Guitar." The video played on several monitors in the galleries. It was intended for the general public.

Thanks for posting this Andy. Very cool!

Nice to see our dear departed friend Steinar Gregertson and local guitarist Patti Maxine included.

GREAT video as it covers so many talents, technics and styles of the steel guitar....thanx Andy!
I think the unique styling of Junior Brown might have been inadvertently missed .... ? The steel guitar is such a 'personal' instrument unlike most any musical instrument you can name.

Keoki, a lot of who's in there and who's not had to due with availability of footage and rights and permissions and who returned calls and emails back when it was produced (plus my personal tastes, of course).

Very interesting video. Thanks again.

In the Gary Myrick clip it almost looks like he does not want to mute the overtones behind the bar. Perhaps that helps create a fuzzy rock tone.

It never ceases to amaze me at how many different sounds people can make with the steel guitar. One is limited only by the extent of one's inspiration. 8)

Have you thought of posting it on YouTube?
Only a very small percentage of people subscribe to Vimeo.

Thank YOU Andy! The visuals are as entertaining as the music. The only performers I wish were also there would be Duane Allman and Ry Cooder (or is that Cooder on the Captain Beefheart clip?)

Alan, it's posted as a work sample linked to my site but I don't have rights to any of the clips so I'm keeping it a bit under the radar and off YouTube.

Peter, don't recall if it was Ry or not with Beefheart but I suppose it could be. Lots of great players are missing besides Allman and Cooder like Noel Boggs, Buddy Emmons, Curly Chalker, etc. but at least we got a few greats in there.

Still sorry about misspelling Steve Cunningham's name.

That's forumite Chuck Lettes' beautiful version of Adventures in Paradise under the credits.

totally enjoyed it. Can I ask, is there a separate clip up on youtube or vimeo for the Darick Campbell section (13:14 into the movie) 'While the Spirit is Moving?' thanks

That clip comes from a fantastic video on Sacred Steel produced by forumite Bob Stone. Bob was the person who first documented the movement. His book is required reading! Here's a link to Bob's program:
