Not louder. The Cube will be louder. But the DRRI might sound nicer at lower vol levels. Did you try the Twin Reverb setting on the Cube? It's pretty darn nice. Otherwise, I'd say go for the Silver Face Twin Reverb. You want clean, right? _________________ To write with a broken pencil is pointless. |

I Have a DLRI and changed the tube rectifier to a SS rectifier and changed the speaker to a Celestion Vintage 30. I already had these parts so I made the switch and was pleasantly surprised with the upgrade.
I tried to get a 1203-8 speaker in the amp but the bolt patterns do not line up as the speaker frame hits the transformer. The Celestion is fine.
I have the Cube 80XL. What don't you like about it? |

I use a DR RI for My guitars and I've only found one trick that really makes it useful for steel...and the amp may be clean to fault so this works best if You have an outboard FX rig...pick up a set of electricians screwdrivers and DUMP the bias adjustment pot on the underside of amp chassis, then You can tweak to taste if required,
Your tubes will run significantly cooler for one thing...so subsequently they will last longer...AND if your DR is working well, You'll basically end up with clean headroom clear across the dial...as long as You don't have super hot pickups, hope this might help You. _________________ '83 Mullen custom D-10 8x5.
