Does anyone know if the Nashville 400 head will fit in the top part of a a Peavey Special 130 cab?

Don't have a 400 to measure, but the Special 130 opening is 18 1/2 wide, 2 1/8 high and 9 1/2 deep. Maybe that will help.

The measurements are close. Measuring at the back of the amp its 2 3/4 high but I believe the front of the amp sits behind a lip that could be a the extra 5/8".
The NV 400 has a heat sink that is 5" from top to bottom that has to clear the back cabinet cross brace.

Yes, you can put a N400 head into a Special 130 cabinet. I did this a couple of years ago and did a couple of gigs with it. I like a 12" speaker but I'm not necessarily convinced a smaller cabinet is the answer. Is seemed like it was lacking bass and also I was getting noise from the reverb.
After that I made a plywood ring (you can actually buy them but I made my own) that would reduce the N400 15" hole to a 12" hole and put a 1203-4 in it. I liked it much better than the 1502-4 that came in my N400. (My N400 is a 1983).
Nowdays my N400 and my Session 400 collect dust and I either play my old Twin Reverbs or if I'm lazy my N112.

Thanks Steve I can pick up the empty cab real cheap so I will go for it and report back on this. Can you tell me your source for the reducing plywood ring?

Hi Charlie,
I just made my own out of 1/2" plywood and my jig saw. Pretty basic woodworking stuff. If I remember right, you could also buy those at Mojotone. I just chose to make my own.

Project complete. Have a 12" Black Widow Neo in it. Sounds great. Thanks for all the help.
