I'm doing a non pedal build similar in wiring to Stringmaster using 2 single coil 8 string pups both wound to about 8.7k ohms. Bridge pup is Reverse wound/Reverse polarity. In old Stringmaster wiring diagrams 250k pots are used for volume and pickup blending. A 1M pot is shown for tone. (I have seen another diagram where 500k ohm pot was used for tone). Just wondering what you guys here would use 1M or 500k.?

I'd use a .050 cap, and a 250K log taper pot. Values, 'cause that's sort of normal for single coils. Taper on the pot? I like it.

John, I don't think they are talking about that kind of pot. Laughing

Which value tone pot you use would depend on exactly how you wanted the pot to function. If you wanted a fast action, for quick "doo-wah" stuff, you would choose the higher (1 meg) value. And if you wanted a slow action, for even tonal effect throughout the full range of the pot, you would choose the lower (250 k) value.
