I must share recent experiences. Last week my wife drove up to Nashville from our home in Clinton, MS. We enjoyed the Rockettes and the wonderful Christmas show on Thursday night.
Friday night I could have gone to the Ryman; however, I noticed that a country show was advertised for the Earnest Tubb Theater. This was just across the parking lot from Fiddler's Inn where we were staying. I decided to walk over for the show. What a great surprise!! When the curtain opened I heard an unbelievably great
country band. I do not remember the names but John Heinrich was on the pedal steel. I have never enjoyed a steel player any more and he played a lot. Also got to visit with him after the show.
Then Joni Harms came on. She was in town for the Opry on Saturday night but came to this show on Friday night. For those who love traditional country-western music she is a must. If you don't have one of her six albums then your collection is lacking.
I loved her songs and her singing. She features a lot of steel and fiddle.
The lovely lady with the band that came out first was also great but I do not recall her name.
Then, what about this, Charlie Louvin came on and did many of those Louvin Brothers songs including my favorite "Cash On The Barrelhead." I heard him and his brother Ira 60 years ago in my home town of Pontotoc, MS.
Everyone was available to visit after the show. I got to speak with Joni and purchase a CD. Also enjoyed a good visit with Charlie - most gracious.
The attendance was poor. Made me wonder where all those people are who keep complaining about the lack of traditional country music. Keep an eye on the Tubb Theater. They are trying to do more shows like this.
Then there is more. We left Nashville and drove to Bruce, MS, for the Bollinger Family Theater. This show is just amazing.
There was not one empty seat in the theater.
Eddie Bollinger is a fabulous steel player and he also played a lot. Here I heard great country music, Christmas music and southern gospel. It is worth the trip to Bruce for this show. It is a must.
I made some good memories . . .

You fellows are too kind. Bro. Bill it was
great to have you and your wife in our audience. We have a great time and make new friends every single week.
Thanks to you, Tommy, old friend, for a
job well done on "Blue Belle". Heads continue to turn at the tone we are getting
from this Mullen. I enjoyed playing that
horn of yours 2 weeks ago as well. Thats
a classy guitar.

Sounds like a great trip. I'm jealous!

John Heinrich is also quite a horn man. Did he play any of his horns on the show? Did you think his steel was going to fall off the stage?

John has played the Lexington show and drops an e-mail once in awhile. I didn't know he was down in Nashville though.
