Grand consul refurb-stringing inf.

Hi guy's I have started re-assembly on my 1950 National D8 Grand consul, I am a bit puzzled by the string gauge arrangements as it seems to be stock and the nuts are cut for a funny mixture of strings(to me that is). What is the norm for a D8 of this era? I intend to use back for C6 and front for E9 tuning.These nuts have thin slots/string at pos 8 getting larger to center then small again.I will need to re-cut the grooves for my sets but wondered what the previous tuning could be. Question
