I just got a Benado and I need to know the best way to hook it up. I go from my volume pedal to the input
of the amp. I then use the loop on my Peavey 400.I go from send of the loop to the input on the benado, and from the output 1 of the benado to the receive on the 400. Is this a proper way to set this up? It does work.

Hi Chuck,
I guess You already have the users manual
http://www.benadoeffects.com/steeldream/pfsteeldream_usermanual.pdf
Like any other effect unit the Benado can be connected several ways so there is not really a "Correct" way.
My set up differs from Yours since I use a Sarno pre amp to a Furlong powered speaker and I find it best to come from My vol pedal to the Benado then to the preamp and finally from the preamp to the Furlong.
If You are in any doubt at all drop a line to Sage Benado He is very helpful indeed.
Best regards
Billy

Chuck, I do effect hookups like you have described...using the amp's effects loop. But, going from guitar, to volume pedal, to Benado, to amp, should work also. You just have to decide which way sounds better to you. It's really your choice.
