I have a Sho-Bud head just like the one pictured in the photo below (bottom left of the photo, black cab). I have been digging around for information but have found nothing. I did talk to Jim Evans, who worked for Sho-Bud from 1965-69. He stated that these were before his time but he remembers seeing them. States they may have been built by Neil Welborn, who did amps for Sho-Bud before Jim Evans. Does anyone have any other info? Thanks for any help....

I believe those are Compactras in head format. It would not surprise me that Evans did not know about them because I remember him telling me that he only made the chassis for Compactras, and the amp cabinets were made in Nashville or somewhere in Tennessee. I do not imagine he would have known if one of his chassis ended up looking like that.

that was the same amp and I agree, a Compactra in head style cab.
The eBay link is dead on that one. It was the exact same amp as yours that we discussed on the link above.

I believe that is the same amp that is now being offered by The Guitar Broker. http://www.gbase.com/gear/sho-bud-amplifier-head-1965Ken Fox wrote:The eBay link is dead on that one. It was the exact same amp as yours that we discussed on the link above.
