I hate; it sounds nice!
I play with one amp and ask my wife how it sounds and she says; it sounds nice. Did you change something?
I go to two amps and ask her how it sounds, and she says; it sounds nice. Did you change something?
I go from my old steel to the new one and ask her how it sounds, and she says; it sounds nice. Did you change something?
I work out a really slick arrangement, lots of hot licks, and cool chords. I ask her how she likes it, and she says; it sounds nice. Did you change something?
No matter what I do different, to her it always sounds the same! Nice.
I hear a world of difference, she just hears nice.
I need to learn to just play, and keep my mouth shut! I already know how it sounds. Nice!
We had our anniverary this week, 24 years. Too far down the road to change now. Guess I'll keep her.
She is nice!

Nice.
My wife says nothing, she just walks off. However, if you ask her to listen to this Jerry Douglas song. She's all ears!
Maybe I should switch to DOBRO!

The first time I plugged into one of Brad's Black Boxes my wife came downstairs to see what I had done to make it sound so yummy, so I was encouraged to think that even though she's not a musician she actually hears what is going on. But then she ruined the bliss when she asked me how soon I was gonna be be done because she needed my help with something.

Hopefully not like the 2 southern belles. One kept boasting about all the things her husband bought for her and the other kept replying "that's nice". Finally after all of her boasting she asked what the other girl's husband bought for her, She said "my husband sent me to finishing school".
The boasting girl asked "finishing school, what's that?"
She answered, "that's where they teach you to say 'that's nice' instead of f#*! you."

Erv, I've noticed that for years. We, or at least I, get caught up in so many little things, and being so close to the music I hear things that stand out. Yet, very few people other than me, notice these things.Erv Niehaus wrote:This just goes to show that if your wife can't tell the difference, the audience sure won't!
Kinda makes me want to get back to the bare basics sometimes.
Nah! too much stuff I still need, and just have to have. Right?

My gal (wife to be) has been a good music listener all her life (and is taking up the uke).
She can not only tell me if something is better or worse, but why.
And when I plugged up my Bud for the first time, she turned around immediately and said "that guitar is a keeper! That has awesome tone."
Good mates are good things.

2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects
