2012 Franklin SD-10 3x4 - SOLD

Post by Evan McGill »

For personal reasons, I’ve decided to sell my patriot blue Franklin SD-10 (3x4), which I bought last year. Aside from practicing and playing, I’ve done some demo work for some people and that is pretty much the extent of it. It’s never left my smoke free house and it’s still in as good of condition as the day I picked it up. You won’t find a newer Franklin in better condition than this one! It's an amazing guitar, but l like I said, I need to sell it for personal reasons. THIS IS A RARE PIECE! It's #213.

The guitar was built in summer 2012. There is one little “nick” in the front that Mr. Franklin made when building it and was EXTREMELY apologetic for it. I was on the waiting list for sometime. Anyways, I am not listing a price and asking that any one who is SERIOUSLY interested to contact me directly at evan.mcgill@gmail.com.

Not looking for trades or cash and trades. I have all of the paper work and it comes with a high-end case.

I’ve sold on the forum before and have 12 years of positive eBay feedback if you need to see it. I'm currently out of the country, so the earliest I would be able to ship this would be October 30th FYI.

The set up is Emmons and as follows:

Thanks for the interest!

Evan...This is a beautiful guitar! For those looking for a Franklin, it doesn't get better than this. This WILL be your last guitar. You won't find better. I've had my single neck since 1989 & been very happy with it...Rene

Chris, The crossbars are not completely round. They just look that way from the pictures. They have a flat part and are absolutely solid and precise. Elegant is the word that comes to mind.

Is the renowned sound of the Franklin due primarily to its changer? I know there are many factors, just wondering what experts say.

Franklin

Chris,
I was thinking the same thing. They do look round. I don't see the flat part of the shaft. It's good to know they have one to keep that bell crank from spinning on the shaft when the set screw wears the point off of it. That was the problem with the MSA Classic, etc. Not to knock them as they are great guitars.

If you don't put a flat spot, you can vary the angle of the bellcrank, giving you infinite possibilities for pull timing.
My apologies for the derail.

Design discussions belong in the Pedal Steel section, not in a classified ad.

Here's a quote from Paul a little while back about Franklin guitars...
We did not set the price or the demand, its the steel guitarists chasing that sound and playability and the limited number available to purchase that has made it more valuable......So yes the name on any product matters. And the Franklin guitars reputation grew from players evaluations on the quality, tone, sustain, tunability, playability, and manufacturer support of the brand.
