I have a Sho-Bud head just like the one pictured in the photo below (bottom left of the photo, black cab). I have been digging around for information but have found nothing. I did talk to Jim Evans, who worked for Sho-Bud from 1965-69. He stated that these were before his time but he remembers seeing them. States they may have been built by Neil Welborn, who did amps for Sho-Bud before Jim Evans. Does anyone have any other info? Thanks for any help....

I believe those are Compactras in head format. It would not surprise me that Evans did not know about them because I remember him telling me that he only made the chassis for Compactras, and the amp cabinets were made in Nashville or somewhere in Tennessee. I do not imagine he would have known if one of his chassis ended up looking like that.

that was the same amp and I agree, a Compactra in head style cab.

The eBay link is dead on that one. It was the exact same amp as yours that we discussed on the link above.

Thanks to all for your replies. I am going to have mine gone through, but it seems real nice. Used, but not abused. If anyone has more info, or knows of someone with one, I am all ears. I am guessing it is a rare item to be sure.

I believe that is the same amp that is now being offered by The Guitar Broker. http://www.gbase.com/gear/sho-bud-amplifier-head-1965
