8-string instruction material in C6?
Anyone know where I can find instruction material for C6 tuning on an 8-string lap steel? I saw a thread here awhile back but can't find it now. I searched every combination of words and the results are only for topics that don't specify the number of strings, are for 6-string lap, or for pedal steel. Contrary to what people say, Google is not my friend.

Bob, I've been trying to find some well written tabs myself for 8 string in C6, high G on top, contemporary C&W from Merle Haggard to the Eagles and anyone in between. There's a lot available for 6 strings in C6, but haven't seen much for 8 strings. Dick Meis has some basic tabs for 8 string in C6, check out his website.
I found if you can play some Hank Williams on 8 string E13 Don Helms tuning, it dosnt' take too much effort to transpose those melody lines to 8 string C6 using different string locations.

Cindy Cashdollar stuff is also downloadable through homespun as well and a bit cheaper than DVD. I prefer the downloads to having to load a DVD personally. I have both of Cindy's lessons and they are very good for a beginner.

I passed all of this information along to my customer. He says he finds it easier learning from books than from videos. Many of us who grew up before the age of computers learned lap steel from books and still prefer books for learning. From my own experience I've found it's quite awkward trying to play while starting and pausing a video on the computer. I think the Dick Meis book may be worthwhile for my customer. Thanks all.
