Deos anybody know who was the steel player on the 1960 George Jones album "Salutes Hank Williams"? I have heard it was either Buddy Emmons or Jimmy Day but I am not sure who it was.

I looked this up in the Mercury session logs.

"George Jones Salutes Hank Williams" was recorded in 1960 at Bradley's Recording Studio with Pig - Grady - Harold - Jerry Kennedy - Hank Garland - Mr. Emmons - Mr. Day & Buddy Harmon.

Jimmy was very proud of this album and told me they recorded it in one day.

Ten years later (June 11-25, 1970) Jerry Kennedy would produce "A Trip in the Country" for Mercury.

So did Jimmy Day and Buddy Emmons both play the steel on this record? Were they featured on different songs?
