Georgia Steel Guitar Association - Conyers, GA

Post by Bill Ferguson »

We are getting all geared up for our GaSGA Peach Jam"boree" #XX (20 for you young folks, hehe).

We are so proud that the Conyers VFW has agreed to host our show for the next 3-4 years. We were sure tired of building hunting.

We will be featuring the unique Carco Clave. Carco has never been to our show and will be a welcome addition.

Also to be featured will be Bill Cunningham, Scott Kirk, Steve "Alonzo" Walker, Tommy Dodd, Brett Day,Jeremy Drawbaugh and myself.

For the first time ever at our show, we will have a "RED LIGHT" jam, reminiscent of the old days when Jeff Newman did this at the ISGC.

It's gonna be fun!

So make your plans for Sunday, November 10, 2013.

Show kicks off at 10:30am

Conyers VFW
1432 VFW Dr.
Conyers, GA 30012

Carco's show in St. Louis was outstanding. I'm looking forward to hearing him again.

I am looking forward to seeing all my "Steel Pickin'" buddies and meet new folks as well! Also, it will be another great show as always, and everyone will enjoy Carco. He is a super Steel Picker and an Excellent Guitar Picker! You Tube has him playing twin with Doug Jernigan on several tunes, so find them and watch them and see just how good he is! See Ya'll Soon!

Hey Friends,

I hate it, but I'm gonna miss this show. This is one of my favorites, but I'll be in Tunica, Ms Saturday night and these old bones aren't quite up to drivin' all night, then playin' all day. LUCKILY, Paul Polish, the staff drummer for most of the major steel shows across the country, was available for this weekend. Have a great time everybody.

See ya soon,
Jim

Hey there Brett, glad to hear you are ready! As I remember hearing John Hughey say one time: "I don't know if I,m ready or not, but I'm willing" See you, Carco, and all the other great players this coming Sunday--

Donna and I are looking forward to seeing everyone in Conyers this weekend. And, of course, really looking forward to picking with my best bud-drummer...Paul Polish.

The red-light game should be very interesting. I remember very well the times Jeff Newman would put me up in a line-up and made me sweat bullets sitting beside Paul Franklin, Randy Beavers, and Doug Jernigan. And the only advice he gave me was "Don't let Doug count off any of the songs!" That was really good advice cause Doug can pick really, really fast. So, should be interesting to see what gets played in Conyers this Sunday.

Come and enjoy the fun!

What a great day we had! A special thanks to the players, band, staff, officers, and other volunteers. Carco had the audience silent while he entertained. And the red light jam was a blast for me!

Stay tuned for details of our next show!come and bring a couple of friends.

Another great show! Thanks for inviting me to play and a thanks to all who were responsible for organizing this fine show! And thanks to the best backup band around! All you Carolina pickers are missing out on one of the finest Steel shows around! Carco Clave was the special guest and he was special! Great personality and even a better performance! A perfect selection of tunes played flawlessly! He wowed the crowd and this will not be his only time to be invited! I am already looking forward to the next get-together in February and I encourage you to attend cause I know you won't be disappointed! Another treat they had this time was the "Jeff Newman Red Light Jam" where pickers have a red light in front of them and you play when the light goes on, at anytime during the song, and stop when the light goes off. You have to be on your toes and pay attention! It was alot of fun by all! Hope To See Ya'll There at the next show!

I had the pleasure of playing drums with my buddy Jeremy. It was great getting to watch him play from over his shoulder. Great voice, by the way!
