Hey Fellas,
I just moved to Davie Florida a few weeks ago. Does any Floridians know of any local steel players I should check out in the area or jam with (Plantation,Weston,Dania etc.)?

Chris,Check out the Florida Steel Guitar club. They meet in Lake Panosofkee (Spelling)usually around the middle of each month. They announce on this Forum meeting and jam dates and are a well run organized bunch of friendly guys and players. Don Sulesky is the president and Jack Stoner past president. They meet and Play at Catfish Johnies Resturant who donates the Hall concert area for them. Once again Check out the events and announcements area of this Forum. It's still free membership and free to attend and the Foods great too.  |

Lake Panasoffkee is a long way from Davie (7 miles south of the northern (western) end of the Florida Turnpike), although you are welcome to come, either visit or bring your equipment and join in.
There is another club, the Manasota club that meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month in Bradenton (Sarasota area) but that too is a long way.
I've seen posts from steelers in the SE part of Florida but I don't recall who they are.

WOW Chris you are way down below Boca Raton. Our Daughter lives down there in Boca Raton. We live up here in Sebring witch is a long drive from Davie. I'm up in the middle of Florida North West of Lake Okeechobee. There is no Steel jams around this area just on the second and forth Saturday night from 6 to 9 at the Sebring Senior Center on Sebring PKWY Don West has a Country Show and he has different Steel players playing every so often and this Coming Saturday night he has Two Steel players coming to play with the band. They are Larry Danley and Billy Mann both great steel players.You will have to travel for a lot of the Steel Jams they have in Florida.

Thanks for the replies guys,
It seems I would have to drive to attend any meeting. I could probably check out the Manasota Club meeting one tuesday I'm free and feel like taking the Challenger on the road.
