I was given a "boot legged" copy of some guitar players out of Nashville. Who I don't know. It seemed to be a contest of "how fast can you play these scales". Evidently my knowledge is not enough to appreciate this type of playing. Very booring was my opinion. |

Playing fast is not boring, but just playing scales fast, is. I liken playing scales to reading (in order) the letters of the alphabet. Just going up or down, or backwards and forwards, doesn't say very much. Neither the letters of the alphabet, nor the notes in music, are very interesting until you start moving them around, and mixing them up. |

This recording must be great........right. I am sure their knowledge of intricate scales or runs must be far above my knowledge but I found it very booring. Fiddle contest and classical piano contest always seemed booring to me..............must be my knowledge. |
