A great big "Thank You!" to our friends Russ & Laney Hicks for a wonderful day Sunday. I feel like I played too much and wore out my welcome but Teresa and I had a great time. Anyone who took pictures, feel free to post on this thread. Unfortunately, I left my camera at home. The food, music and fellowship were tremendous. We couldn't have had a better day. We send our love along with our thanks.

This seems to be becoming an annual tradition,& getting better every year. I think they had a record crowd this year. There had to be close to 200 people there.
Mike, you picked (& worked) yer butt off. I visited w/ Lloyd Green yesterday (10/10) & he agreed with me. You couldn't ask for a better day either. The weather was beautiful!
Russ & Laney are two of the greatest people in the world! I'm very proud to call them "friends"! Its an honor & priviledge to know these two. I've had people tell me that they just met them,& that they were treated like they've known them for years.
<marquee>GOD BLESS RUSS & LANEY HICKS!!</marquee>

Thanks to Russ and Laney for a wonderful day spent with friends.
I have a few pictures I would be happy to share but I can't figure out how! If anyone can walk me through it I will give it a try.

Bev and I had a great time. Russ and Laney, we really appreciate the invitation. It was great to be with old friends like Jim & Patty Thompson, Chuck & Sherlie Campbell, Jim Hartley, and others. Its great to make new friends like Wayne Smith and Smiley Roberts (Even though Smiley you almost got me into a fight Friday night). Bev and I have been in the steel guitar community for a short time and although I'm a bass player and not a steel player I feel very at home around you folks. I do have a few pictures.
Johnanthan Candler playing Mike Sweeney's Steel. Wow can this kid play.
I think we know who this is
My wife Bev singing with John Hughey
Wayne Smith trying to play my left handed, strung right handed G&L bass.

Russ and Laney,
Thanks for making my first visit to your lovely home such a memorable moment. I’ll not soon forget the great company, food, and music…not to mention the beautiful surroundings. BTW, how’s that water leak?
P.S. I won't forget that walk back up that hill to my car either! LOL.
Blessings on you…

Once again, another great 'fish fry, picken party, and visiting get-together' is in the books..such a great time with old, and new friends..the food and music was just icing on the cake..but all of these things just combined to add new pages to my book of memories..
Thank you Russ and Laney for your hard work, and dedication, and for your hospitality, love and considerations to make this a 'must go to 'event...
See you all Saturday in B'ham,Ala.
Drive carefully, and be safe...
Peace and love to you...

I am sorry I didn't make it to the fish fry at the Hicks home. I would have been welcome but I chose to drive on back home that morning.
I love Laney's singing and Russ ain't to bad either..
I was talking with Laney at the show and was telling her that I had missed sending my song to the contest she had by a few days. She told me she would have to do it again!
Thanks for being so kind and taking time to speak with me..............Rich Guy

Ditto to everything that has been said. Patty and I had a great time. Thank you so much for the invite. Just visiting with old friends and meeting some new ones was great. Haven't seen Bob McCracken since he moved awayfrom here way back when. Getting to chat briefly with Lloyd was a treat. Listening to Mike and Jonathan, John Hughey , Joe & Larry and all the pickers was special too. The catfish was out of this world. You guys are special people. We are looking forward to having you at our show here in PA next April. What a great weekend.
