My sister and I went to the Nebraska State Fair today. Saw Mel Tillis and the Statesiders. Great show! Talented musicians! Really enjoyed the concert! They said both shows today were to a sellout crowd! You guys come back to the Nebraska State Fair anytime Thanks for a great time |

I'll also do a public shout out for Terry AND Mel!
Mel performed at this year's Legends of Western Swing Festival, in Wichita Falls TX. At 80 years of age, Mel has lost NONE of his fantastic stage presence, and connection with the audience. Talks to 'em just like folks, downstage and in front of the monitors. And you forget how many classic songs he wrote for other singers like Price and Pierce. I've seen lots of shows of the great country singers, and Mel's had me glued to my seat like a tourist in Nashville.
One surprise at that show, incidentally, was learning that Mel didn't write one of my fave songs of his, "Send Me Down To Tucson." In fact, he was reluctant to record the song, but it was part of the deal to be included Clint Eastwood's "Every Which Way But Loose" movie, along with "Coca-Cola Cowboy."

BTW, I love Terry Bethel like a teacher and a brother. Just sayin'... _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

Send me down to Tucson was written by Cliff Crofford who also wrote That Mule, old Rivers and me (Walter Brennan), and a Faron Young cut of I hate myself for falling in love with you. Cliff also wrote some of the tunes in the Clint Eastwood movies.
Terry Bethel is one of the nicest guys and greatest players out there. He always has time to talk to you, and is very friendly. |

What a fantastic entertainer. Mel and the Statesiders are the best of the best, and an example to all of just how good country music was and should still be. Period. |

Spent the day with Terry and the Statesiders yesterday. What a great group of guys! He and all the Statesiders played great! If you ever want to see how it should be done go see this show, Mel and the Statesiders are at the top of the class when it comes to real country music and great entertainment.. Terry is one of the good guys! We became friends 15 years ago when I was living and working in Branson, I cant say enough...

Wally, did you need your jacket to stay warm there at the Lumberyard? I would have hired you and your copter to stir up some air the weekend before. |
