| this thing was such a mess I did not have any choice but to remove the layers of paint and polish it out somewhat. They came painted silver. It rings like a bell. |

Ira Trotter evidently worked at a jewelry store in Nashville when he was making these guitars. The logo plate on yours (Jerry Byrds 6/7 double) appears to be fashioned by someone in this connection, possibly a local trophy shop. Ray Montee has informed that he also has a Trotter 7, (number 2 he claims) but does not recall if it had a logo plate or not. I may reproduce one similar to yours for my guitar but at this point am not sure it was an inherent element of the single neck.
I am really wondering how many of these are out there, and again ask forum members to chime in........This guitar rings, sustains and sounds better than anyone I have ever played or heard played. |

If you blow up your picture of Jerry abyrd with a single neck it looks like it had that same badge on the headstock as mine...although you can't make out the letters

Hugh, this question once was deliberated here and beyond the obvious 'very few' I think we came up with about a dozen singles and maybe 2 doubles, along with a very few prototypes. Oddly, these great steels weren't recognized as anything special by virtually anybody until recently, and still not by most. |

It would be hard to believe the restored guitar could sound anything other than fabulous.
While the Rickenbacher frypan is a historic and wonderful instrument I have never cared for the round body; it looks too banjo-like to me.(and you know what they say about banjos) The Trotmore, on the other hand,has a touch of Flash Gordon about it. What a killer axe!
