I'm running a brand new computer... And am virus free. If you get or have gotten an email from me now, it is because you asked for something that I may have or I for what ever reason decided to send it to you.

I posted here as soon as I noticed what was happening...
I've also made over 50 phone calls warning family and friends. I know it won't be enough, soon enough, but I've tried. How could anyone expect to sell anything by forcing a spam ad on you... It's insane!!!

It happened to me just recently, Dick (that's twice my Hotmail account has been got at) and mine was an email from a trusted sender that contained a link. I clicked on it, nothing apparently happened, then MY account started sending out the same thing to every one of my contacts. I doubt that my friend was aware that his account had been hacked in the first place.

Hotmail, to give them credit, picked up on it themselves and got in touch saying they'd suspended my account. They sent me a link to my other 'address' and I was able to reset a more difficult password. Now, though, I'm automatically required to log-in every so often which I presume is additional safety measure they've put in place.

It happens a lot and it's one of the perils of the modern world - I, too, wonder why they bother - who on earth would actually make a purchase of any kind when it's clear that the info comes from an undesirable source???

If you open it... Your email account will be highjacked and that email will be sent to anyone you have an email address for saved in you email address book.

Then after that has been done... My email address provider, Hotmail, will suspend my/your account, requiring me/you to input another password. Supposedly, then, they will reinstate my/your email address. You will be back in business. It is a PITA!

My account is currently suspended. That is a good thing for anyone I had an address for... A bad thing for me, because a click of my mouse has caused so much pain and suffering, not to myself(I'll live with it) but for my associates and forum friends that trusted me, by sending me an email, to do the right thing in protecting them. For that I am sorry...

If you have emailed me in the past, your email address will be deleted from my address book. At least protecting you from this happening through my account again. You will still be able to email me, should you ever want to again. That email will come into my junk mail and be scrutinized before opening, there by protecting you.

Gentlemen and Ladies, I am truly sorry!
Dick Sexton...

AGAIN, DON'T OPEN ANY EMAIL YOU RECEIVE FROM duncansexton (at) hotmail.com

That's the problem with webmail servers,to easy to compromise.

I use my ISP mail server for communication & use the web mail server for junk mails or spam.

You can add my name to that list of who has been hijacked. It seems that Hotmail, is easily grabbed by thieves, hackers or what ever they are called. I have since taken protective measures. It is a mess to straighten out. You have my sympathies.

Steven, This is an old post I started out of respect for the forum membership because I was hacked. That has been corrected.

I'm running a brand new computer... And am virus free. If you get or have gotten an email from me now, it is because you asked for something in another post that I may have and thought you may have some interest in.

Bob, please if there is a problem with me on the forum, contact me immediately. I will do what ever is required to resolve it. Thank you.
